The EA Sports UFC 4 rankings are now completed as the top 10 fighters were unveiled on Thursday morning. It was no surprise to see who made the top three, although a number of fans are already debating the No. 1 overall fighter. That’s none other than dual women’s champion Amanda Nunes, who edged Jon Jones to take the top spot on EA’s rankings.
Nunes, Jones top EA Sports UFC 4 rankings
The EA Sports UFC 4 rankings have featured some questionable choices along the way to the top 10. However, today’s reveal brought forth the best fighters in the business and clearly in the upcoming game. Taking the top spot is Amanda Nunes with a perfect five-star rating.
Nunes is the current Bantamweight and Featherweight champion with a 20-4 record in UFC and an 11-fight win streak. The Brazilian MMA star made history as first woman to become a two-division champion and first to hold two titles in two weight classes at the same time. Giving her the top spot makes plenty of sense prior to the game’s release.
That makes Jon Jones the top overall fighter for the men in UFC. The Light Heavyweight champion also has a five-star rating and is just above men’s Lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, as shown below.
Rounding out the top five in the above list are Women’s Flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko and men’s Bantamweight champ Henry Ccejudo. Another champion may be raising a few eyebrows, though.
Cover star Israel Adesanya ranks above notable stars
Interestingly, the current UFC Middleweight champ Israel Adesanya ranks at No. 6 overall for the EA Sports UFC 4 rankings. He’s 19-0, though, so that makes plenty of sense. Still, some fans question how the UFC 4 cover star is above a legend like Georges St-Pierre.
Adesanya also outranks UFC Heavyweight champ Stiple Miocic and Welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. At UFC 251, Usman defeated cover star Jorge Masvidal in a bout for the title. As we mentioned in yesterday’s top 20 fighter rankings, Stipe Miocic is scheduled to take on ratings adjustor Daniel Cormier at UFC 252. That takes place right near the game’s release date.
Keep in mind, Daniel Cormier will have the crucial role of ratings/ranking adjustor. That means he’ll be keeping an eye on how the fighters perform in real-world fights across different events and move them up or down accordingly. We could see plenty of changes on the way, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens with fighters that are no longer competing in the UFC.
