Plastic pollution has become a major environmental issue throughout the world. The buildup of plastic debris in the environment is currently exceeding our ability to clean it up. So, it is exciting that Sony has opted for eco-friendly PS5 packaging. Whereas the PS4 packaging included some plastic components, that is not the case with the packaging for Sony’s newest console. That will mean less plastic in landfills and elsewhere in the environment.
There is No Plastic in the Eco-Friendly PS5 Packaging
The packaging for the PlayStation 5 contains zero plastic and no styrofoam shock proofing either. This sets it apart not only from the PlayStation 4 packaging, but also for the packaging for the Xbox Series X (which does use styrofoam). Instead of styrofoam, the packing material for the PlayStation 5 is made out of recycled cardboard.
You may recall that the DualShock 4 was packaged in polymer film, not the most eco-friendly choice. The PS5 DualSense, on the other hand, is in a recycled box. It is great to see Sony being proactive about protecting the environment with eco-friendly PS5 packaging. There has never been a time in history when taking all these small steps to protect the planet has been more important.
