The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr DLC isn’t too far away from release now, and ZeniMax Online Studios has been doing plenty to promote the upcoming expansion. However, their latest community event is certainly a bit unorthodox; to celebrate the Alfiq, a form of the Khajiit which resemble housecats and which feature in the DLC, ZeniMax has provided templates for fans to show off their own pet cats.
The Elder Scrolls: Online Elsweyr DLC Celebration of Cats
In Elder Scrolls lore, the Khajiit which fans are all familiar with are just one form of the feline race. In fact, there are a whole assortment of Khajiit variants which vary from the familiar humanoid form to much more cat-like creatures. Some even have almost no feline traits; the Ohmes are almost identical to Bosmer, for example. The Alfiq are a variant which appear just like housecats. Although these Khajiit cannot speak, they are intelligent and can understand speech. They are even supposedly capable of magic, and are known to wear clothing, though they do require help putting clothes on.
“While our beloved pets can’t speak or cast spells (we think!),” reads a recent update on the game’s official website; “they do make for wonderful companions. Below, you can discover some of the real-world cats that inspire the ESO: Elsweyr development team every day, but in addition to them, you can download the two templates here and here to create Alfiq out of your own kitties!”
Fans can see the full gallery of “The Cats of Zos,” on the Elder Scrolls: Online website. It includes ten different photographs, all of which feature cats owned by members of the development team. The idea certainly seems to have resonated with fans; many have already shared pictures of their own cats on social media using the Alfiq templates.
