The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr is the latest Chapter DLC for the popular Elder Scrolls MMORPG; the third, following Morrowind and Summerset. First announced at the start of 2019, the long-awaited DLC launched today as the second content release of the Season of the Dragon. This year-long event is set to span four separate DLC releases; three dungeon packs, and Elsweyr itself. Alongside the release, ZeniMax Online Studios released a new launch trailer online.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr DLC Launch Trailer
Elsweyr is the second DLC release for The Elder Scrolls: Online in 2019. The first was the Wrathstone dungeon pack, which began the Season of the Dragon. Now, players will be able to set out into the new region of Elsweyr in a massive expansion which introduces necromancy, the Khajiit homeland, and even dragons! This is the first time since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that dragons have played a major role in an Elder Scrolls game. In this case, the dragons are led by Kaalgrontiid, and were freed from an ancient prison-vault by Abnur Tharn. (As depicted in the DLC’s announcement trailer.)
The prologue quest for the Elsweyr DLC has been available in the game for around two months now; ample time for players to get a taste of what’s now available in the DLC. With today’s launch, players will be able to set out into the realm of Elsweyr. Although parts of Elsweyr have appeared in The Elder Scrolls: Online before now, this is the first time the game has ever delved deeply into the region. In fact, it’s the first time ever that any Elder Scrolls game has done so. Elsweyr is one of the regions of Tamriel which has never played a major role in the series. As such, much of the culture of the Khajiits has long been a mystery.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr DLC is now available on PC/Mac, Xbox One, and PS4. Fans who subscribe to ESO Plus will of course get the new content for free.
