The Elder Scrolls: Online Update 21 is almost ready for release, and ZeniMax Online Studios have given fans a more detailed look at the two core features. Update 21’s biggest feature, of course, is the upcoming Wrathstone DLC, which will be launching simultaneously. Wrathstone is the first of four planned DLC releases forming the Season of the Dragon, and the only one before the launch of Elsweyr. However, Update 21 is bringing plenty of its own content. Specifically, a brand-new Zone Guide for the world of Tamriel, along with an improved Guild Trader UI.
What’s Featured in The Elder Scrolls: Online Update 21
“Tamriel is a big place,” says ZeniMax Online Studios; “and ESO’s many zones are filled with lots of things to see and do. With Update 21 and the new Zone Guide tool, we’ve made it easier to discover everything Nirn has to offer.”
The new Tamriel Zone Guide is a major rework of the game’s existing map system. The guide is designed to help players always find something to do, whether they are new players overwhelmed by the amount of content, or players returning after an absence. The Guide will display specific zone information for a wide variety of different factors. Players can access the Zone Guide from the Map UI, the Announcement panel, or the Activity Feed. In the Activity Feed, the Guide will give players a “Start Zone Story” option, marking the location of that zone’s quest-giver.
The second big feature coming in Update 21 is a new Guild Trader UI. This major overhaul gives players many more options when trading; “The goal with the Guild Trader UI update is to empower our players to find what they looking for in Guild Stores and be informed when making purchasing decisions,” explains ESO’s Lead UI Designer, Bobby Weir; “The biggest addition in terms of impact is the new ability to search bu item name.”
The new UI will also offer input suggestions, and features search filters to help refine your search results. You can see your recent searches, even between different Guild Traders. Plus, the UI offers you a “price per unit display and sorting option” for item stacks. The Guild Trader categories are also getting a rework to be more representative of their respective communities.
