The Elder Scrolls: Online Wrathstone DLC is the first of four planned DLC releases which will span the Season of the Dragon; a year-long, story-driven release schedule for the Elder Scrolls MMO. Centring around the awakening of Kaalgrontiid and other dragons, Wrathstone tells the first chapter of the story; how the two halves of the Dragonstone were recovered prior to the dragons’ awakening. That second part of the story will now doubt form the centrepiece of the upcoming Elsweyr Chapter DLC. Launching alongside Update 21, the Wrathstone DLC released earlier today on PC and Mac.
The Elder Scrolls: Online Wrathstone DLC Now Available on PC/Mac
Wrathstone is not a massive regional ‘Chapter’ DLC like Elsweyr. Rather, it is one of three planned dungeon packs which will comprise three of the four content releases during the Season of the Dragon. Wrathstone is launching ahead of Elsweyr, while the other two will launch after, later in the year. As a dungeon pack, Wrathstone adds two major new group dungeons; the Depths of Malatar and the Frostvault. Each of these is a huge new dungeon to explore, with numerous bosses, new gear sets, and plenty more.
The first of the two dungeons is the Depths of Malatar; an ancient Ayleid ruin buried beneath an Imperial fort. The ruin is based on a dungeon which appeared in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Meanwhile, the Frostvault is sealed deep within the huge Dwemer ‘Vault of Mhuvnak’. This ruin, buried beneath a thawing glacier, is home to goblins wielding ice magic as well as Dwemer automatons.
Of course, alongside the release of Wrathstone is the launch of the free ‘Update 21’; a major game update for The Elder Scrolls: Online. This update brings a new Tamriel Zone Guide and a rework of the Guild Trader UI. Plus, of course, it also brings its fair share of bug fixes, stability improvements, and so on.
