About a month ago, a game-breaking glitch forced Star Wars Battlefront 2 developer DICE to temporarily remove the sinister Emperor Palpatine from the game’s roster of multiplayer heroes. Now, the Sith-aligned senator has made his (triumphant?) return as part of a larger August update for the Star Wars shooter.
Specifically, Palpatine was removed in the first place because of a targeting glitch that allowed players to hit opponents through walls with his lightning-based special attacks. Now that the issue has been found and fixed, Palpatine is once again available in-game according to this update on the official Star Wars Battlefront 2 forums.
Along with bringing Palpatine back, the August update also restores Battlefront 2’s popular asymmetrical Ewok Hunt mode, complete with a fix for a previous issue that sometimes prevented Stormtrooper players from boarding the escape shuttle at the end of a match. The full patch notes for the August update can be found below:
- Palpatine has been added back to the game
- Fixed an issue with Palpatine being very overpowered by restricting the angle from which the player could lock on with his lighting ability
- Fixed an issue with Palpatine being able to lock onto targets through walls
- Ewok Hunt has been added back to the game
- Fixed an issue in Ewok Hunt where Stormtroopers were unable to board the shuttle
- Rebalanced stamina for lightsaber heroes
- Fixed an issue in Hero Starfighters on PC where players experienced a short stuttering before being locked on
- Fixed an issue with Extraction where objective markers were misplaced on Kessel and Jabba’s Palace
In other Star Wars gaming news, the former director of BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO game recently commented on how he regrets trying to emulate World of Warcraft rather than making The Old Republic into a more unique online experience.
