Epic Games has gone live with a lengthy new State of Development blog on the official Fortnite website, where you can check out some of the various things the team is currently working on ahead of its next official patch reveal. For starters, the team is making a series of quality of life improvements, with “a number” of features that are already being worked on as we speak.
In update v4.3, there will be pop-ups that come up during matches to help highlight your progress through various challenges so you can plan what you need to do for the rest of the match or future rounds to rack up additional points and make further progress. This should be made even easier by the addition of in-world markers that you can drop on the map so that you can figure out where you are, or at the very least tell your squad where it is, exactly, you’ve found yourself. There’s also going to be a higher-resolution mini map coming in the future to help you get a better look at where it is on the screen you’re actually dropping in at.
A “freshened up” Victory Royale screen should be on the way as well, with a “more rewarding” screen that should make you feel a lot more appreciative of getting that win to start with. Further, spectator UI improvements that include more info on item inventory, ammo, crosshairs, compass and markers, and building edits are coming.
Beyond those specific quality of life improvements coming down the pipeline are alterations to the replay system, coming ahead of the Celebrity Pro-Am tournament at E3 2018. New camera features are on their way that will let you orbit around areas that you deem interesting, and the camera can start automatically tracking a group of players for you rather than just focusing on one person.
There’s a lot of various augments and changes coming with update v4.3, but these are the highlights. If you’d like to know more about the coming alterations for Fortnite, check out the official blog, and we’ll keep you posted on any further developments.
