Epic Games Launches Fortnite Update 1.72 for Android, PC, and PS4
Epic Games has now launched their latest update for Fortnite. Specifically, the company has launched update version 1.72 for the game’s PlayStation 4 and Android releases. The new patch appears to be intended as a hotfix for a bug which has been causing crashes; introduced by the game’s latest content update; v5.21.

Epic Games warned its fans that this new update would be coming soon. In a recent message to players, Epic Games stated; “We’re aware of an increase in crashes in Battle Royale since the release of v5.21. We’ve identified the issue and are working towards a fix. We’ll update you once we have more information”. Update 1.72 is the latest patch to be released since that message. Players have already reported being prompted to download the patch on PlayStation 4, PC, and Android. Epic Games confirmed that those platforms were the ones affected; “The following platforms have received a client update to resolve the increase in crashes related to patch v5.21: PC, Mac, Android, PS4.”
Epic Games has not released official patch notes for update 1.72. However, given the fact that the update is likely to just be a hotfix for 5.21’s bugs, the studio’s priority was no doubt to release it as quickly as possible. With any luck, update 1.72 should resolve the crashing issues reportedly introduced by v5.21. Fortnite’s Save the World mode was also affected by crashes, and should presumably also be affected by the fix.
This isn’t the first update to be released by Epic Games since the launch of the last content update. The studio launched a new balance update last week. However, this is the first patch aimed at fixing bugs to be released since the content update. Unfortunately, this patch is unlikely to resolve the performance issues being reported by fans on the game’s Android version; that issue is the result of an unrelated software problem, and has yet to be patched by Epic Games.
