If you’re a Fortnite fan, chances are you’ve heard someone refer to the game as “Fork Knife” in the past. Maybe it was a confused mom at GameStop. Maybe you and your friends just call it that for fun. Whatever the case may be, you’ve probably heard the reference at some point before.
It’s hard to believe that Epic Games hadn’t gotten into the fan references already, whether it was influenced by parents or clueless folks or what. But now, the day has come that Epic Games has given into the ultimate meme, and has introduced something hilarious into the game: a food truck with the words “Fork Knife” emblazoned on the side of it.
Kids and adults alike call the game by this ridiculous name, so it’s awesome to see the company giving in to the hilarity that’s been picking up steam on the internet over the last few weeks. You can find a few of the different food trucks apparently, but this is just one that Kotaku was able to find in Retail Row. It looks like the meme that spun out of control is finally taking on a life of its own and is becoming something of “canon” for the game, with the addition of this food truck.
If you’re cruising around in-game and happen to find more weird food trucks, make sure you come back and share your findings with us. As we all know, Epic Games is no stranger to memes, with the recent Infinity Gauntlet event that introduced Thanos to the game resulting in hilarious videos of Thanos dancing and grooving with the game’s emotes. The emotes themselves are meme-tastic as well, with many of them, like “Floss,” based on internet phenomena already.
It remains to be seen what’s coming next, but you can bet it’s going to be something tongue-in-cheek, because Epic Games is apparently dead-set on making us all laugh.
