Exotic Weapons Are Getting Some Cool Buffs in Destiny 2 Warmind DLC

Destiny 2’s expansion set Warmind is due to come out next month, which means right now a lot of news is dropping about what we can expect. Now we know more about exotic weapons changes which are planned thanks to Senior Designer Jon Weisnewski, who discussed the buffs in “This Week At Bungie.”

The first weapon which is due to receive a buff is the scout rifle Skyburner’s Oath. Discussing the gun, Weisnewski noted that it works well, but “it lacks spectacle to give it that exotic feeling; it kind of plays just like any other gun.”

In order to make it look and feel more exotic, it will have explosive rounds in the future. Additionally, if you fire it from the hip, the rate of fire will be higher but the projectiles themselves will move more slowly and track the center mass of the target. In short, it will function as a “rapid-fire grenade launcher that can transition to a precision death dealer with the press of a button.” Check out the video:

Next up is the Rat King. Fire rate, damage, and reload speed for this gun will all receive a buff if more than one team member has the weapon equipped. As many as six members can have the gun equipped at a time. An interesting twist is that the stats for the gun will improve more if just a couple of team members are using it rather than the entire raid fireteam.

This is not the only change to the Rat King. The gun will now be fully automatic. This change is being made so that players can experience the full buffing to the rate of fire.

Since Curse of Osiris fell rather short with fans, it is critical for Bungie to get things right with Warmind. The DLC will have its official reveal on April 24th, and will be available to players on May 8th.
