What to Expect in Modern Warfare’s New Season 4 Scrapyard Map

At launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 brought three new maps to the game; one each to Gunfight, Ground War, and the core multiplayer. The latter of this trio is Scrapyard, a recreation of the classic Modern Warfare 2 map of the same name. Now, this new Modern Warfare Scrapyard map is available to play in-game. So, here’s what to expect…

Modern Warfare Season 4 Maps: Scrapyard

While the new Scrapyard map has only just been added to the game, it actually isn’t the first iteration of the map in the latest Modern Warfare. The Scrapyard map from Modern Warfare 2 has proven so influential that its design was used for part of Call of Duty: Warzone’s Verdansk map; the Zhokov Boneyard. This part of Verdansk has a near-identical layout to Scrapyard, so it may well seem familiar to Warzone experts. This new standalone map, however, is a more faithful recreation of the original.

Modern Warfare Season 4 Scrapyard Map

A medium-size map, Scrapyard is designed for 6v6 game modes and playlists. It features three lanes, stretching between an array of aircraft fuselages and concrete walls. Those fuselages serve to constrict movement for both teams, forcing players into one of several paths which are ideal for long-range sniping. In fact, not only are the lanes long and direct, but the map is also mostly open to the sky. As such, there are expansive sight-lines offered by catwalks and second floors at either end. Indeed, Scrapyard is absolutely a sniper’s playground, provided you pick the right spot and the right weapon.

Of course, the lack of ceiling cover also means that Scrapyard offers plenty of opportunities to use aerial Killstreaks to great effect. Another point that’s worth noting too is that, while they may seem sturdy, the aircraft fuselages on this map can be pierced by large calibre bullets. As such, the right heavy-calibre firearm can be surprisingly destructive on Scrapyard. Indeed, this is particularly true if you have a partner overlooking the centre lanes who can call out targets.
