Far Cry 5‘s first DLC, “Hours of Darkness” may be dominating the game’s news at present, but in the background, Far Cry 5’s weekly live events are still going. The latest one follows on from last week’s “Root Canal” event; entitled “Explosion Hazard”, the event, which started yesterday, is tasking players to get kills using indirect explosions.
If you are unfamiliar with Far Cry 5’s weekly live events; each week, Ubisoft sets a challenge in Far Cry 5. If you complete it a few times, you’ll get a reward. Complete it a few more times, and you’ll get a special event reward. Meanwhile, Far Cry 5 will keep track of how many times the entire community completes the challenge. If everybody combines completes it a set amount of times, everybody gets a special community reward.
The Explosion Hazard Event
For “Explosion Hazard”, you’ll need to get three kills to gain the first reward, and six to gain the second. Meanwhile, the community will need to reach 100,000 and 200,000. An “indirect explosion” is any explosion that happens in the game that isn’t an explosive that you personally throw/set. So grenades, rockets, and C4 are all out. You’ll need to shoot explosive barrels, cause vehicles to explode by taking damage, and so on.
Once you get three kills via indirect explosions, you’ll be rewarded with 50 Silver Bars, Far Cry 5’s micro-transaction currency. Get 6 kills, and you’ll unlock the Kaumbat H-158 “Senator”, this week’s event reward. The Senator is a helicopter decorated with campaign stickers for Hurk Drubman Sr., Hurk Jr.’s father who is running for senate in Hope County. He appears as the quest-giver for the “The Prodigal Son” and “Make Hope Great Again” side-missions. Meanwhile, if the community reaches 100K kills, everyone will get 50 Silver Bars. If everyone gets a total of 200K kills, then everyone will also unlock the Hurk Jr. or Adelaide Outfit, allowing female characters to dress like Adelaide Drubman and male characters to dress like Hurk Jr..
