One of the most popular mods around for Fallout 4 has just received a major update. The Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack originally released in November of 2015; since then, it has received almost 14,000 endorsements on NexusMods, as well as over 500,000 total downloads. Created by a modder who goes by “valius,” the mod received its latest update just a few days ago.
The Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack Mod
Launched on the 17th of August, Version 1.2.5 of the Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack comes in two formats; High 2K and Ultra 4K. According to valius, the mod; “is an ongoing project to replace various textures within Fallout 4. My aim has been to create higher resolution textures to replace those in game whilst trying to maintain the original style”. The mod isn’t a total overhaul, offering enhanced textures without accompanying drops in performance.
Update notes for version 1.2.5 lists over a dozen new textures. In fact, many of these are themselves groups:
- Added New Textures – All High Tech Metal Panels, Bus Stop, Diamond City Signs, Metal Details, Metal Barrels (Various), Metal Barricades (Various), Mattress, Vault Furniture (Various), Vault Crates, and Kitchen Table Top.
- Adjustments to Counter Texture
- Redone Filing Cabinet Textures, Wooden Doors, Garage Furniture, and Wooden Furniture
- BA2 Format Files Added
The BA2 files which are mentioned at the end of the list are used for an alternate version of the mod. “The BA2 version has the textures packed into an archive,” explained valius; “and uses a single .esp plugin to activate the mod. Using this version, you should see increased performance particularly with load times. Please keep in mind that if you are using multiple textures mods that use an .esp plugin to activate, you may need to check your load order as there will be texture conflicts if using mods that replace the same textures”. Users can also download the mod files individually, without downloading the pre-packaged BA2 version.
