In recent weeks, Bethesda has been tackling the problem of duplicate items in Fallout 76. After patching out a major item duplication exploit, many exploiters were left with huge caches of items. Some were so large that they were actually causing server instability. A patch earlier this month wiped huge amounts of duplicate items from the game, seemingly cleaning up the last remnants of the mess. However, it seems that at least one player may have received an unfair Fallout 76 ban. Although they did possess an enormous amount of ammo, they say that it’s the result of playing over 900 hours in the game.
Fallout 76 Ban Given to Gamer With Over 900 Hours of Playtime
The affected gamer is Redditor Glorf12, who received a Fallout 76 ban during the exploit cleanup. Apparently, Glorf12 genuinely enjoys Fallout 76 and has been playing it consistently since launch; so much so that they racked up over 900 hours of in-game time. As a result of the long time spent in the game, they have several accounts, and they believe that the fact that they were trading ammo between these accounts was the source of the ban. However, an email they received explaining the ban lists an enormous amount of ammo which they claim they never had.
“I have never had such a ridiculous amount of ammo,” they explain; “What I have done, however, is trade ammo back and forth between my main and secondary account as I try to decide on what guns I aim to focus on. Given the sheer amount of time I have spent playing I have legitimately collected ludicrous amounts of ammo.”
Apparently, Glorf12 suspects that their ban stems from other players mistakenly reporting them when they were trading between accounts; “I often use 2 accounts to transfer items between my characters,” they say; “I even detail it in the comments of the above Reddit post how and why I do this. My belief is that people see a level 450+ player trading with a level 2 character and immediately think REPORT HIM REPORT HIM REPORT HIM. I even got some players who harass me when I’m attempting to trade items.”
Bethesda has yet to respond to Glorf12. Hopefully, this issue can be resolved quickly as the case garners more and more attention.
