Fallout 76 will be the first core RPG title from Bethesda to be preceded by a public beta. Announced during E3, the B.E.T.A (“Break-it Early Test Application”) seems to be aimed at testing and debugging the game’s multiplayer functionality, which will itself be a first for the studio. Bethesda has yet to reveal a launch date for the beta, but the studio recently revealed that it had begun sending out access codes.

How to Get Into the Fallout 76 Public Beta
Fallout 76 is slated to release on the 14th of November, later this year. If you can’t wait that long to give the game a try, then the beta may be for you. However, this is not an “open” beta. The only way to receive an access code is to pre-order a copy of the game. As with many betas, fraudsters online have begun offering fake access codes. As stated above; the only way to get a legitimate access code is to pre-order the game. There is no other way. Fans who pre-ordered via Amazon should already have started to receive their codes. Meanwhile, those who pre-ordered on Bethesda’s own sight began receiving codes on the 19th of June. Codes can be redeemed on the official Fallout website.
Bethesda has not announced yet when the beta will begin. However, they have announced that the beta will begin on Xbox One one week before expanding to other platforms at a later date. Todd Howard did make a surprise appearance at the Microsoft E3 presentation to debut a Fallout 76 trailer, so it is possible that the studio have some sort of arrangement with Microsoft. However, rather than any sort of exclusivity arrangement; it could simply be that Bethesda is dividing the launch dates so that the developers can focus on fixing problems one platform at a time.
