Players have been reporting a newly surfaced Fallout 76 bug with an unusual effect. While it doesn’t appear to be common, recent commentary on social media has raised the visibility of those who have experienced it. Apparently, this bug causes players to be both invisible to other players and immune to damage from other players.
The Fallout 76 Bug Which Turns People Invisible
An instance of this bug occurring was recently posted on Reddit by user AvengedClayFoldX. Apparently, after they killed a player who became “wanted” for attacking his Workshop, the player accused them of cheating because they were invisible. Until that point, they were completely unaware that they were invisible. The bug appears to only affect how other players perceive an affected player. After returning the player’s Junk, they attempted to fix the bug by leaving the server, but the problem persisted. They are invisible to all other players. Moreover, other players are seemingly incapable of damaging them, as if they didn’t even exist in their games.
Some other players have commented on the thread relating their own experiences with this bug; suggesting that it isn’t just a one-off anomaly. Much like the Power Armour bug which trapped people as distended figures, this bug appears to be persistent and doesn’t end if players close the game; most likely because the broken instance of their character is kept saved in the Fallout 76 servers.
This bug doesn’t seem to be as common as the Power Armour bug was. However, it’s certainly problematic for Fallout 76’s PvP modes. While AvengedClayFoldX was decent enough to return the Junk of the player whom he killed while in this state, this bug is easily exploitable. Somebody could use it to kill other players with impunity. Hopefully, Bethesda is aware of the problem and working on it for their next patch. According to the company’s latest blog update, the next Fallout 76 patch will come in mid-January.
