Fallout 76 is due to release on the 14th of November in most global regions. However, it seems that the game has already gone live on PC worldwide, without any announcement from Bethesda. The studio published a map of the game’s release times yesterday, but these seem to have been rendered moot for PC.
Fallout 76 is Already Live on PC Worldwide
The early Fallout 76 launch on PC has now been verified by a number of media outlets and trusted sources; confirming that the game has indeed gone live early. The game was supposed to launch tomorrow, and will indeed launch tomorrow on consoles. Nevertheless, it seems that PC players have gotten lucky. It’s unclear how exactly this happened; there has been no word as of yet from Bethesda about the early launch, suggesting that it was unplanned and maybe even accidental. Reinforcing that notion is the fact that the game doesn’t make obvious that it is playable; it still displays a message in-game which reads, “We’ll see you for launch day on Wednesday, November 14”; however, pressing Play will nevertheless load the game.
Moreover, reports have come in from players around the world suggesting that the early Fallout 76 launch has happened everywhere. This is not an isolated incident in one region. It’s not unheard of for a game to release early by accident; just last week, Battlefield 5 appeared to release one day early for EA and Origin Access subscribers. A few months ago, Ubisoft mistakenly released the third DLC for Far Cry 5 almost a week early, before taking it down once they realised the mistake.
Whatever the case, it seems that Fallout 76 is currently playable on PC ahead of schedule. Given that the game is set to launch worldwide tomorrow anyway, it seems unlikely that Bethesda will take it down. Indeed, PC players may as well enjoy the extra game time which they’ve got thanks to this (likely accidental) early launch.
