Patch 9, which is coming on the 7th of May, is shaping up to be one of the most sizeable game updates ever for Fallout 76. Alongside a brand-new faction, a new backpack system, and player vending, it will also be introducing the Purveyor; a special new merchant. To prepare for her arrival later in May, players will need to find Fallout 76 Legendary Exchange Machines, where they can create Scrip.
What are “Scrip” and the Fallout 76 Legendary Exchange Machines?
First teased at the announcement of Wild Appalachia, the Purveyor is a new vendor designed for higher-tier players. This mysterious Mole Miner doesn’t accept Caps, however, she only accepts a new currency called Legendary Scrip. When Patch 9 launches, players will be able to get their hands on Scrip by seeking out the new Fallout 76 Legendary Exchange Machines. These machines can be found at the various Appalachia Train Stations. When you find one, simply fill it with your excess Legendary items and the machine will convert them into Scrip.
At present, we don’t know much about the Purveyor; Bethesda has said that they will be sharing more details about her next week. However, we do know that she will be a vendor who sells only Legendary weapons and armour. Using the Scrip gained from exchanging their spare Legendary items, players will be able to buy the Purveyor’s wares. As a result, the Purveyor’s inventory is much more accessible to higher-level players; people who have large caches of Legendary items which they don’t need.
Dedicated fans have been asking for more higher-tier content for Fallout 76 for some time. While it certainly doesn’t resolve that request entirely, the Purveyor does seem designed specifically for such players. It’s currently unknown where the Mole Miner will appear, although it’s possible that her location may change as she appears and reappears. Similarly, it has been suggested prior to now that her inventory may shift over time, and that it may include entirely new Legendary items. For now, fans will have to wait until next week for more concrete details.
