Two weeks ago, Bethesda announced the addition of one more patch to the December schedule for Fallout 76. Following the last patch which went live on the 11th, this latest Fallout 76 patch released today. Going purely on the size of the patch notes, this patch appears to be a fair bit smaller than the last two; indeed, Bethesda is now referring to it as a Hotfix rather than a Patch. Nonetheless, it does implement fixes for a few major bugs.
What’s New in the Latest Fallout 76 Patch
The December 19th Fallout 76 patch (or Hotfix), only adds one feature which isn’t a bug fix. That feature is Korean language support. Any players who currently have their in-game language set on Korean will have a small additional download as part of the hotfix. According to Bethesda, this should only be; “a few hundred megabytes.”
Where the hotfix is likely to affect players more widely is with a number of bug fixes. Two notable bugs have now been patched in the game’s PC version. The first was a bug which could cause the game’s client to crash instead of closing properly when players hit the “Exit to Desktop” option. The second was apparently a “setting that was left in a debug state”; this could allow clients which were out of date to connect to servers in some cases, potentially causing gameplay issues.
The hotfix also fixes a general exploit which would allow players to duplicate items, although the patch notes don’t go into detail about what this exploit was. Finally, the patch also fixes a problem which many players have noticed and been complaining about; a bug where enemies could suddenly heal after taking damage, or be seemingly immune to “high-damage and explosive weapons”; certainly, the issue concerning enemies who would spontaneously heal when they took damage has been one of more worrisome bugs plaguing players of late. No doubt plenty of people will be pleased to learn that it will no longer be an issue.
