Although some unfortunate players have encountered a crippling bug on the Fallout 76 PC version since the launch of today’s BETA, other players have been able to start without issue. As most gamers would expect, there are an array of extra options available on the game’s PC version. These are especially notable when it comes to graphics. Indeed, in this area the game appears to be missing several graphics options which PC gamers might normally expect to find.
The Graphics Options Currently Missing From the Fallout 76 PC Version
Unlike the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Fallout 76, the PC version offers gamers much more direct control over its graphics settings. Although the game’s recommended PC system requirements weren’t especially high, those gamers with powerful gaming PCs will no doubt be able to improve the graphics well above what is possible on a console. However, among the options which players might normally adjust on PC, several key ones appear to be missing.
Anti-aliasing settings are absent, for one, alongside V-sync and framerate options. One particularly conspicuous setting is an FOV slider, which is completely absent. However, PCGamer report that they found lines in the game’s .ini file which suggest that the FOV can be altered. They also report that the game’s framerate is unlocked up to around 144 FPS.
What this suggests is that the Fallout 76 PC version doesn’t currently feature all of the graphical settings which will be available at launch. It’s possible that, for some reason, Bethesda chose to omit those settings from the game’s menu for the BETA. It could be that they encountered an error or bug prior to launch; it’s clear from recent events that the studio is still dealing with bugs. Alternatively, it could be simply that those settings aren’t fully implemented yet. Bethesda has yet to comment on the absent options. The lack of an FOV slider is definitely somewhat unusual; especially as the capability appears to exist in the game somewhere.
