A new trailer has been released on YouTube for Fallout: Miami, a huge upcoming mod for Fallout 4. Fallout: Miami is one of several major mod projects which are currently being worked on for past Fallout titles, all of which aim to create DLC-size or larger amounts of content.
The Fallout: Miami Mod
The team behind Fallout: Miami have been posting monthly updates on the mod’s official website. However, this is the first trailer which the team have unveiled. The mod is roughly equivalent in size to a DLC from the original game, but doesn’t currently have a release date.
“The Sole Survivor journeys to the sunny South,” explains the mod’s description online; “following the promise of a well-paid job but ends up embroiled in a conflict between various groups, some vying for power, others fighting to uphold their ideals.” The description goes on to state that; “Fallout: Miami is a brand new world space, with a gripping main quest, side-quests, equipment, settlements, and a host of interesting characters and companions! Uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearances and take part in the age-old struggle between Order and Freedom.”
Three new factions are on the mod’s website; the Nuclear Pariots, and the Dreamers, in addition to the Cubans. The Nuclear Patriots are a pseudo-religious group opposed to slavery. They rule a feudalistic community in the ruins of Miami, and compete in brutal death races. The Dreamers are chem addicts who take “Luna”. This drug causes dreams so beautiful that anybody who wakes is likely to suffer an emotional breakdown. Finally, the Cubans are a group of former-Cuban elites who fled the communist revolution; they are now the primary peddlers of Luna and other drugs.
Fallout: Miami will only be available on PC, but not on consoles. The most likely reason for this is due to the size and graphical limitations for mods on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4; mods of this size only rarely come to consoles.
