The Family Heirloom collectible set is one of many in God of War. Like other sets, each Family Heirloom artefact you collect rewards you with XP, and you receive a larger boon when you complete the set. The artefacts can also be sold off to Brok or Sindri. This particular set of collectibles are scattered throughout the frozen realm of Helheim.
Because of their location, you won’t be able to start the Family Heirloom set until your first trip to Helheim. This comes during “The Sickness” story quest. On that first trip, you will be able to collect the first three Family Heirloom collectibles. However, to collect the last two you will need to return to the realm with Atreus later in the game.
The First Three Artefacts
The first artefact is relatively easy to find. When you leave Tyr’s Temple and enter the realm of Helheim, turn right immediately. The first Family Heirloom artefact is tucked away in a nearby corner. Further down the bridge, you will come upon a locked door. From there, turn left, burn away some Hel-bramble, and follow that path. You will need to climb for a way and fight your way through some Hel-walkers. In this area, one of the pillar is broken, and you can find the second artefact behind a clump of Hel-bramble at the its top.
The third artefact, and the last which you can find on your first trip to Helheim, is further along. After fighting more Hel-walkers and clambering up and back onto the bridge, you should walk under a structure overhead. Look up here to spy the artefact held against the roof by Hel-bramble.
The Last Two Artefacts
Later in the game, you can return to Helheim with Atreus, and you will need him to reach the final two artefacts. The fourth artefact can be found by travelling along the bridge to the second overpass. Climb up here and head left. There, Atreus can destroy a sap wall to access a Hidden Chamber. This chamber belongs to the Valkyrie Rota; beware, like all Valkyries, she is a very formidable opponent. The fourth artefact can be found behind the sap wall to the right-hand side.
The fifth and final collectible is located further in the Hidden Chamber. You will use an elevator to descend into the chamber, but just before you enter Rota’s arena, turn up a flight of stairs that ascends to a balcony. The artefact can be found to the left of this area, tucked behind a brazier.
