The Battlefield 5 Open Beta has now come to an end; the next time fans get the chance to play the upcoming title will be when it actually launches in November. Since the end of the beta, DICE has been addressing a variety of changes which they plan to make. One area which appears to have some fans concerned is map size. However, DICE has been quick to reassure players that there are Battlefield 5 maps which will feature in the final release which are much larger than those which appeared in the beta.
Upcoming Battlefield 5 Maps Will be Massive
During the open beta, some fans appeared to have concerns that the maps felt too small; especially compared to previous Battlefield titles. However, according to several developers, the maps which featured in the open beta were certainly not the largest. In fact, only a couple of maps actually featured in the beta. In response to fan concerns, DICE posted images of the upcoming Hamada map. Set in North Africa, Hamada is around 1.5km from end to end, making it much larger than both Rotterdam and Narvik. However, the map is still a work-in-progress; it seems likely that DICE used Rotterdam and Narvik for the beta because they were somewhat smaller and more manageable.
Regarding map sizes: this is Breakthrough for Hamada, with a distance of just over 1500m from Attacker's HQ to the Defenders' final 5th sector. I've added a view from Conquest C to better understand the scale. (BT layout is ░W░O░R░K░ ░I░N░ ░P░R░O░G░R░E░S░S░) pic.twitter.com/93MfHuRTzf

In response to the above Tweet, Jeff Gagné, another developer at DICE, reaffirmed the statement that larger maps will feature in the final release.
We're also making big map guys.
I know I know, it's easy to come to conclusion but jeez, the game is not released and we are starting to share info.
"WHY U MAKE MAP SO SMAL!!"
Stop assuming things folks please.
Love you all 🤘💙 https://t.co/mhid2YpzjL— Jeff Gagné ✌️ (@JFGnorD) September 15, 2018
While fans may have concerns; it’s worth remembering that the open beta is only a snapshot of what the final game will be, with only some of the final content. Hamada is one example of an upcoming map which is much larger. In addition, when DICE gave information about the upcoming Firestorm battle royale mode, they boasted that the game type will take place on the largest map ever made for a Battlefield game. That map has yet to be revealed.
