What Far Cry 5’s Companions Do When They’re Not Helping Out

Far Cry 5’s “Guns for Hire” system introduced a new style of play to the series. Far Cry 4 enabled players to call in rebel allies. The new title, on the other hand, has 9 unique character allies whom the player can call upon for aid. Running the gamut from a loyal dog to a redneck pyromaniac, the Guns (and Fangs) for Hire are all valuable in their own way.

Players can only call upon one of Far Cry 5’s companions at a time. When you dismiss your companion, they simply leave until you call on them again. But where do they go when they aren’t roaming around Hope County with you? As it turns out, the answer is surprisingly simple. They get pizza.

Boomer, Peaches, and Cheeseburger, the three “Fangs for Hire” return to their homes when dismissed. The same cannot be said of the game’s six human companions. When you dismiss any of these characters, they make their way to a single spot. That spot? An establishment called the 8-Bit Pizza Bar. This unassuming building can be found west of the Hope County Prison, in the Henbane River.

Far Cry 5 certainly has its share of Easter eggs. Prospective hunters may wish to try their hand at hunting down one of the game’s elusive jackalopes. On the other hand, if you fancy laying waste to the cult, you may want to unlock the magnopulser. While there is nothing to gain from this particular Easter egg, it might be one of the more worthwhile from a story point of view. Players may well be pleased to know that their companions seem to get along when they aren’t wreaking havoc against the Project at Eden’s Gate. At the 8-Bit Pizza Bar, Far Cry 5’s companions chat to one another, relax, exercise, and generally enjoy some (perhaps well-earned) downtime.
