With Far Cry 5’s Guns-for-Hire system returning in Far Cry New Dawn, there is a whole new roster of companion characters for players to recruit. Hurk is a returning companion from the last game and Pastor Jerome is another returning character, although he wasn’t a Gun-for-Hire in Far Cry 5; however, the remaining six Far Cry New Dawn Guns-for-Hire are all new. The roster includes two Fangs-for-Hire, Horatio and Timber. Also on the roster is a mysterious character known only as ‘The Judge’ who is actually a member of New Eden.
The Far Cry New Dawn Guns-for-Hire: The Judge
Seventeen years after the end of Far Cry 5, the Project at Eden’s Gate is no more. However, elements of the faction survived the nuclear apocalypse and have re-emerged as ‘New Eden’. This group is led by Joseph Seed, ‘The Father’ who was the main villain of Far Cry 5. Exactly what their role in Far Cry New Dawn will be is unknown, but it is known that they can become allies at some stage, and it seems that players will meet the Judge when they go to seek aid from New Eden.
The New Eden faction seems to have gone back to nature in a big way, abandoning all forms of technology. The cultists make use of bows and other primitive weapons, and as such, the Judge fills the role of Hunter on the Guns-for-Hire roster. In Far Cry 5, this role was provided by Jess Black. The Judge’s first ability is ‘Stealth’ which makes his movement exceptionally quiet. His second ability is ‘Feral Friendly’ which means that wild animals won’t attack either the player or the Judge as long as he accompanies you. They will attack if you attack them first, however.
Finally, the Judge’s third ability is ‘Harsh Judgement’; this ability allows him to shoot three arrows simultaneously, dealing very high damage to his target. It’s currently unknown exactly what players will need to do to recruit the Judge. However, it is known that they will need to ‘prove themselves’ to New Eden.
