One of the new mechanics in Far Cry New Dawn is an upgrade system for your base of operations; the survivor settlement of Prosperity. Built around the ruins of John Seed’s ranch from Far Cry 5; Prosperity is a fort led by Kim Rye and filled with facilities which you’ll find useful. Unfortunately, most of these facilities are inaccessible at the start and require you to invest and upgrade them. As one of the core Far Cry New Dawn upgrade mechanics, upgrading Prosperity is a major part of the game.
Far Cry New Dawn Upgrade Mechanics: How to Upgrade Prosperity
When you first arrive in Prosperity after the game’s prologue, Kim will give you a quick briefing about the settlement and how to upgrade it. There are two aspects to this. First are the eight different facilities, which you can upgrade at signposts outside each one. The second part is upgrading Prosperity itself, which is a much longer-term objective. To begin with, you’ll want to focus on getting the first upgrades for the different facilities and making everything accessible. These eight facilities are the Cartography station, Expeditions helipad, Explosive Lab, Garage, Healing Garden, Infirmary, Training Camp, and Workbench.
Upgrading these facilities will let you craft new vehicles and weapons, improve the skills of the Guns-for-Hire, and also set out beyond Hope County on Expeditions. Fortunately, upgrading these facilities is simple, as you only need one resource to upgrade all of them. Unfortunately, that sole resource is Ethanol, which is in the hands of the Highwaymen. To get Ethanol, you need to capture enemy outposts. If you choose to “scavenge” the outpost, you can then capture it again for more Ethanol.
Upgrading Prosperity itself is a little trickier. To do this, you need to upgrade the facilities and also find and recruit a number of Settlers. These special characters, like Bean and Selene, are scattered around Hope County. If you can recruit them, they’ll set up in Prosperity.
