In FIFA 19 mastering goalkeeper controls is just as important as being able to score with your team’s players. In many instances, you’ll want to take over as the goalkeeper to prevent those free kicks from landing in the net and possibly costing you a game. Or you’ll want to switch to the goalkeeper as you’ve lost control of the ball and the opponents are advancing to try to score. Here’s how to move your keeper in FIFA 19 and make sure you can prevent goals in key situations.
How to Move Your Keeper in FIFA 19 for PS4, Xbox
One of the great new features in the FIFA 19 gameplay is the ability to get full control of your goalkeeper. Many gamers call this addition a “game changer” as it allows for new strategic play and better overall control of your team when faced by an attacking team, or opponent with kicks. The last thing you want to see is opponents’ FIFA 19 goal celebrations taking place on your watch!
In the FIFA 18 game, gamers can move their goalkeeper by simply holding the right stick down on the controller. In FIFA 19, you can also hold the right stick down at a moment when you want to take control of your goalkeeper. Keep holding the stick down and you should hear a “clicking” sound. That means you have taken over control of the keeper. Now you can move them. This works on the Sony PlayStation 4 or the Microsoft Xbox One.
With the right stick still held down, you can move the stick in different directions to control your keeper. For example, if the opposing team looks like they have a player shooting towards the right side of the goal, move the stick UP to guide your goalkeeper there (while keeping the stick pressed). If the opposing team appears to be close to scoring on the other side, then you would press the stick DOWN (while keeping the stick pressed).
- Hold down the right stick on the controller (PS4 or Xbox One)
- Keep right stick down as you hear a “click” sound.
- Keep the right stick down as you control keeper.
- Use the right stick to move keeper in preferred directions (left to right, out away from goal, etc).
Remember, keep the right stick pressed down as you move your keeper. This feature is available in all instances where you need to take control of your keeper. You can move the goalkeeper on free kicks, or even sideline kicks that could allow scoring opportunities!
