EA has confirmed that FIFA 19 Nintendo Switch is indeed happening again this year. Those of you who were worried that FIFA wouldn’t come to Switch again won’t have to worry anymore. The latest entry in the most popular soccer video game franchise in the world will be making its way to a hybrid system near you with the ability to both play it on the TV and anywhere on the go.
News of FIFA 19 Nintendo Switch was confirmed by Andrei Lazarescu, the Supervising Producer for the recently released FIFA World Cup update. Lazarescu confirmed the Switch version in a recent interview with Dream Team FC regarding the upcoming FIFA 19 game. Not only was the game confirmed for Switch, but it was revealed that it will have enhanced graphics compared to 2017 counterpart.
Unfortunately, FIFA 19 Nintendo Switch will once again not run on the Frostbite engine that is used for the other platforms. However, Lazarescu hinted that it isn’t impossible for that to happen someday in the future. According to him, the team didn’t want to create a “dumbed-down” version of the engine but he isn’t “closing the door” on the Switch version eventually using the Frostbite engine, too.
Like FIFA 18, FIFA 19 Nintendo Switch will run on a custom engine built specifically for this version. In fact, the original engine used for last year’s entry is being used as the baseline to build this year’s FIFA 19. This will allow for the improved graphics as we mentioned already. There’s no better time to jump in and see how FIFA 18 runs on Switch than right now.
While you wait for FIFA 19 Nintendo Switch this fall, we recommend checking out the FIFA World Cup update that launched earlier this week and who we predict will be on the cover this year. Even better, the game is on sale for 50 percent off in the Nintendo eShop right now to commemorate. I, personally, jumped in with the World Cup update and am really having a great time with my first FIFA game in years.
