FIFA 20 eChampions League Invitational: Tekkz Remains Unbeaten to Claim Another Championship

He’s done it again! As of Saturday, FIFA competitive gamer Tekkz has won the FIFA 20 eChampions League Invitational tournament. That gives the multiple-time champion yet another trophy to go with his collection. Here’s a look at how Fnatic’s Tekkz, real name Donovan Hunt, got it done on Saturday.

F2Tekz wins FIFA 20 eChampions League Invitational

In the FIFA 20 eChampions League Invitational, European champions from the past three seasons of global tournaments were in competition. There were a total of eight competitors. Among them were familiar names including MegaBit, MoAuba, Ollelito, and of course, Tekkz.

Tekkz would emerge victorious in the first round with a win against Gorilla, and then defeated MegaBit 5-3 in the second round. From there, he dispatched of his semifinals opponent NRaseck 7 with a 3-1 victory. The eSports organization he reps, FNatic, posted a highlight clip of the moment Tekkz scored to secure his spot in the final.

The clinching goal came from none other than Kylian Mbappe, a featured competitor in real-world soccer for the upcoming UCL Championship between PSG and Bayern.

That brought a Grand Final featuring Fokus Clan’s MoAuba, who also defeated NRaseck 7 by a final of 3-2 to get there. The Grand Final would see Tekkz victorious and in rather easy fashion.

He took the first leg of the matchup, 3-0 for a solid start. While the second leg ended in a 1-1 tie, that gave Tekkz the 4-1 Grand Final victory. He was also unbeaten throughout the competition, showing just how good he is.

Upon his victory, Tekkz celebrated with his Fnatic FIFA teammate Harry Hesketh. The Invitational was a remote event, meaning there wasn’t really an in-studio or in-arena celebration with a big check and trophy. Still, Tekkz and Harry were clearly enjoying the moment.

Tekkz claims top prize, Global Series schedule about to wrap up

According to EA’s event page, first-place for the FIFA 20 eChampions League Invitational was $35,000. That’s not bad for a few days of work for Tekkz.

Other competitors didn’t end up empty-handed. Second-place took $25,000, with third getting $15,000 in prize money. Fourth-place received $10,000, while fifth and sixth each received $5,000. The seventh and eighth competitors took $2,500 just for their efforts.

The event was live streamed on Twitch, and gamers who watched as the FIFA 20 eChampions League 2020 Invitational happened, had a shot at rewards. Among the rewards shown were a 98 overall Neymar Jr. item for FIFA Ultimate Team. Viewers needed to have linked their Twitch account with EA account in order to have a chance at rewards.

There’s one more FIFA 20 competitive event on the schedule. The Mid-Eastern Series is set for next weekend to crown another champion for FIFA Global Series.

Soon, Tekkz and other gamers will be getting ready to shift attention to the newest version of the game, though. The new FIFA 21 game arrives on Oct. 9 for Sony PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Pre-orders of certain editions give gamers three days earlier access to the title on Oct. 6.
