On Saturday (June 8), the EA Sports FIFA 20 demo from EA Play arrived. Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez hosted the event as it streamed live from California on the EA Sports FIFA Twitch channel and other areas. After a look at the new FIFA 20 trailer from earlier today, they dove into some of the new FIFA 20 gameplay details. That includes something referred to as “Football Intelligence” which is a restructuring of specific parts of gameplay.
FIFA 20 Gameplay to incorporate Football Intelligence System
Earlier today, the first FIFA 20 trailer arrived, showing off VOLTA Football mode. That gave a glimpse at some gameplay, but not all. A number of new terms arrived on Saturday during the EA Play FIFA 20 gameplay reveal. That included the Football Intelligence system. FIFA Lead Gameplay Producer Sam Rivera was on hand at EA Play to discuss making this game as fun and authentic as they can.
Rivera said they spoke with all sorts of football players from amateurs to professionals to get feedback on creating the new features set called “Football Intelligence.” It’s a combination of features to improve the three main components during FIFA gameplay: on the ball, off the ball, and the ball itself. Here’s an overview of what each of these will work to improve in the new game.
On the ball – They’ve created enhanced one-on-one moments for the gamer controlling a player. “Decisive Moments” will give players the tools including Composed finishing, Strength Dribbling, Controlled tackling, New penalty kicks/free kicks. In particular, gamers will have even greater control over those penalty and free kicks due to the new gameplay design.
Off the ball – EA developers have given more time and space for the CPU players’ interactions during matches. There’s an “Authentic Game Flow” set in place now. This should help the rest of a gamer’s team be more in synch with the game action and reacting to the opponent’s decisions.
The ball itself – Brand new “Ball physics System” puts the ball at the center of every match. It will give FIFA a fresh experience with the way the ball bounces, moves and reacts to players’ touches, kicks, etc.
Rivera also mentioned they are looking at a few other areas of community concern. They relate to a defensive player’s speed in terms of catching an offensive player, as well as player strength. He said they are tweaking these things as they continue to work on the final product, and that player attributes will play a great part in this year’s title.
