FIFA 20 Global Series Results: NR7 Wins FUT Champions Cup Stage II

On Sunday, the latest FIFA 20 Global Series event results arrived as a new gamer put his name on the list of competitive gaming champions. The FUT Champions Cup Stage II officially wrapped up in Bucharest, Romania. Once the dust had settled from three days of competitive gaming, one star was standing tall. NR7 is the latest champion in this new FIFA 20 competitive season.

FIFA 20 Global Series Results: FUT Champions Cup Stage II grand final

The latest FIFA 20 Global Series event started on Friday, November 22. It featured a total of 64 competitors in two brackets. One side included 32 PlayStation 4 gamers with the other featuring 32 Xbox One gamers. A $200,000 prize pool was also part of the tournament. Sunday’s FUT Champions Cup Stage II grand final would feature Germany’s NR7 taking on QLASH’s Crazy from Italy for all the glory.

Crazy would take the PS4 side of the tournament. He defeated USA’s G_Adamou10 in the Round of 16 by a final of 3-1 and followed that up by defeating Maestro 3-2 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he took down Hashtag Harry, 4-1. For the PS4 finals, Crazy took out Brazil’s Paulo Neto, 1-0.

For the Xbox One side of the event, it was NR7 moving to the finals. He’d win 5-0 over Samylumineo in the Round of 16, and then defeated gaming star Msdossary 3-4 in the next round. For the semifinals, NR7 took down an absolute legend in Tekkz who was coming off his big win in the previous FUT Cup Bucharest event this month. NR7 then bested Brazil’s Vini, 2-1 in the Xbox final.

That set up the big grand final involving NR7 and Crazy for the latest event.

NR7 would go on to defeat Crazy in dominant fashion, winning the grand final 2-0 on Sunday. After his victory, EA Sports FIFA posted a video of the new champion raising his trophy up in celebration of the moment.

NR7 receives praise for first winning FUT Champions Cup

With his victory, NR7 finally joins the list of FUT Champions, as he’s now the fifth player to win the Cup. Several eSports personalities including Mike LaBelle and Brandon Smith tweeted their congratulations. Both men said that NR7 has been “one of the most consistent FIFA players” around and is “not the nearly man anymore” since he now has that big win.

The winner takes home the bulk of the prize money with $50,000 awarded. In addition, he earns 2,000 prize points from the FUT Champions Cup event. That can help with getting to the FIFA eWorld Cup later this season.

This marks the second FUT Champions Cup out of six for the FIFA 20 season. FIFA 20 Global Series will have a month off in December prior to the next big event. On January 20, 2020, the season’s third FUT Champions Cup will take place. That brings the potential for yet another new competitive gaming champion to emerge.
