The EA developers officially issued FIFA 20 title update 6 for the game on PCs as of Tuesday, November 6. The latest update addresses a number of issues with the game involving things such as gameplay, VOLTA Football, Career Mode, and FIFA Ultimate Team. Here’s a quick look at some of the changes that are part of the new title update which will arrive for consoles soon.
FIFA 20 Title Update 6 Gameplay changes
The FIFA 20 game had an official release date back on September 24, 2019, and as with previous installments, regular updates will happen to address bad visuals, glitches, and/or gameplay mechanics. For FIFA 20 title update 6, it appears the developers made changes mostly to address glitches and visuals, with some additional tweaks. There were only a few gameplay changes that they made.
Per the EA website, these were the two main changes within the game:
- Shortened the time between the camera cutting away during Penalty Kick Shootouts.
- Updated CPU AI decision making on free kicks for all difficulties in order to enable a wider variety of free kicks taken.
The developers also made some fixes with the new update, as follows:
- Improved offside detection in situations where the player given offside was not involved in the play.
- Addressed instances of sideline characters getting stuck in place with their arms outstretched.
Ultimate Team gets most changes via update
Just ahead of the announcement of a new FIFA Team of the Week, the title update brings a number of changes in the popular Ultimate Team mode. Two of the changes were only for PC. One involved the tabs at the top of Squad screen not displaying properly if one was toggling between screens. Another for the Squad screen involved arrows and numbers for the Formation option displaying on other options. Developers adjusted both of these on PC versions of the game only.
The FIFA 20 title update addressed the following issues for all versions of the game:
- Desyncs when watching a FUT Champions Channel replay in some situations.
- A non-functional button callout was present on the Squad Builder screen when making a Concept Squad.
- Turquoise blue bar was still displaying on the Season Objectives tile when a different tile was being highlighted.
- The My Friends text was displaying as ‘Undefined’ in some situations on the Team Select screen in FUT Friendlies Couch Play.
- In some rare instances, players were incorrectly unable to find opponents in FUT Rivals.
- Corrected the lighting of the Opponent’s Squad screen to match the lighting normally used in the Squad screen.
Career Mode, VOLTA Football changes
Two other popular modes in FIFA 20 are Career mode and the new VOLTA Football mode. Both of these modes received some changes or adjustments via the title update.
In particular, two of the Career mode fixes were pretty important as they were creating unnecessary events for some gamers. The FIFA 20 title update brought fixes for the following:
- Created players having their Skill Moves and Weak Foot reset in situations where an increase to the stat was earned when the values were already at the max of 5.
- Being terminated from your manager position in some situations due to delegating contract negotiations even in situations where the manager was having significant team success that season.
For VOLTA Football, the changes were to adjust screen visuals that were glitching:
- Some of the Attribute boost arrows for Chemistry were displaying on the wrong Attributes for your current Chemistry Style.
- The Harvester Jacket was not correctly displaying on all Avatars.
- Players were showing their age as -852 on the Penalty Kick Selection screen.
- An overlay was incorrectly displaying in the top left corner when playing the first Training Drill of a session.
Important fixes still needed for FIFA
Canadian Twitch streamer Nick28t had a very popular reply on the announcement of the update. In that reply, he mentioned several major issues that gamers really want to be fixed on the game.
1) No update on button delay or server issues?
— Nick (@Nick28T) November 5, 2019
2) No update on AI defending being buffed way too much since Early access?
3) No update on how slow/unresponsive dribbling/shooting/passing is?
4) No update on blocking people from seeing home/away games in champs?
5) Drop back?
As another gamer replied to him, it appears that the main importance at the moment is to keep shareholders happy rather than the gaming community at large. Gamers continue to hope that some of these other fixes will happen in the future, but so far there’s yet to be much movement to address them.
As mentioned, the new FIFA 20 title update 6 is already live for PC versions of the game. It follows another update in which a number of player likenesses changed:
An official date has yet to be announced for the PlayStation 4. Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game but it should be on the way in the near future. Updates typically download and install automatically upon the launch of the FIFA 20 game without any other steps required.
