All of the covers for the upcoming EA Sports soccer sim title have officially been unveiled. Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe will grace the FIFA 21 cover for three different editions of the game due out in October. The news of Mbappe being featured as the cover star also came with details for pre-orders and bonuses.
Kylian Mbappe is FIFA 21 Cover Athlete for All Three Editions
At age 21, Kylian Mbappe has continued to keep his relevance as potentially the star football player of the future. He’s already become the youngest player to score in a World Cup Final and was part of the 2018 victory by France. In addition, he’s racked up 51 goals in 49 appearances in that same year as a part of PSG. Basically, the soccer world appears to be in good hands, or feet, with Kylian Mbappe.
One of our previous cover athlete predictions, the young PSG star was revealed as the FIFA 21 cover star on Wednesday. He tweeted out all three covers along with how excited he is to not only appear on the cover but eventually play the game.
With FIFA 21 cover athlete Mbappe on front of all three editions, it’s a change. With FIFA 20 and other releases, each cover had a different athlete. Eden Hazard was the Standard cover star. Virgil Van Dijk was Champions cover star and Zinedine Zidane was on the Ultimate Edition.

Release date and next-gen details
Based on details, the FIFA 21 Standard Edition has a release date of October 9, 2020. The Champions and Ultimate Editions of the game arrive three days earlier on October 6.
The game will be available for Sony PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Steam. As with EA’s other upcoming sports title, Madden 21, the new FIFA 21 game will also be part of the Dual Entitlement program.
That allows gamers to upgrade from the PS4 game to PS5 game, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X, free of charge. However, if you purchase a disc version instead of a digital version of FIFA 21, you’ll need to upgrade to the same type for the next-gen console.
That means if you purchased the disc and then get a disc-less next-gen console, you won’t be able to upgrade. Instead, you’ll need to purchase a digital version of the game.
As far as a release date goes for the next-gen consoles, there’s no official date, beyond a time window of the holiday season 2020.
