With the release of EA Sports’ FIFA 21 game still weeks away, details are emerging about what the new title will bring. We recently saw the official reveal trailer as well as the cover star for all three editions of the game. In the coming weeks, EA will unveil deeper dives into the various FIFA 21 features. Meanwhile, we’ve learned that FIFA 21 will have the most FUT Icons the game has ever had.
FIFA 21 features 100 Icons for Ultimate Team
Amongst returning FIFA 21 features will of course be Ultimate Team mode. It’s amongst the most popular aspects of the game, despite many in the community labeling it a “money grab.” Part of the fun of the mode is building up one’s Ultimate Team roster with better player cards. These acquired through packs, the Transfer Market, SBCs, and Objectives. Some of the best in the game are the FUT Icons.
It was revealed by EA that FIFA 21 features 100 different Icons, which is a dozen more than FIFA 20 had. They haven’t revealed all of the newest legends who will make their way into the game, but Eric Cantona will be among them.
EA Sports FIFA Twitter recently asked fans to leave ratings predictions for the former Manchester United star.
EA has indicated they’ll be unveiling more details on the FUT Icons next month. We may get a look at the full list in August, so stay tuned, but more definitely seems to be better in terms of the selection FUT fans will have.
FUT Co-op mode, next-gen transfer also part of game
Another exciting aspect of the FIFA 21 features in Ultimate Team will be Co-Op mode. With this, friends will be able to team up in Ultimate Team mode’s Division Rivals and Squad Battles. Through this, there will be shared rewards and weekly progress. In addition, there will be new Co-Op Objectives to go after.
In addition, EA has revealed that gamers who plan on upgrading to the next-generation PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series, won’t lose their FUT progress. With “One FUT Club,” gamers’ Ultimate Team rosters, items, and progress will transfer over to the game on their next-gen console if they have upgraded to the new version game.
Over the past week, EA unveiled all three covers for the different editions of the game, with cover star Kylian Mbappe of PSG featured on each. Pre-orders for the game are now available, with the official release date set for Oct. 9, 2020. Gamers who pre-order select versions of the game will get three days early access.
