Two of EA Sports’ biggest titles received a combined video package during the EA Play Live 2020 event on Thursday. Towards the tail end of the 45 to 50-minute long presentation, an EA Sports’ Next Level clip arrived. That clip debuted some of the first FIFA 21 footage seen so far. It was combined with new footage from the upcoming Madden 21 video game.
It also previewed what sports simulation fans can expect when it comes to the next-gen console graphics. In addition, it’s been confirmed there’s a free upgrade for FIFA 21 to those who get the new consoles.
New Madden, FIFA 21 gameplay footage arrives at EA Play
In a trailer that has now been unveiled on the EA Sports’ YouTube channel, gamers get to see the graphics for Madden and FIFA 21 on the next-gen consoles. The new video gives a look at the first FIFA 21 gameplay footage for Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. It also provides more Madden 21 footage, as a small bit already arrived weeks ago in an Xbox Series X preview.
The preview video checks in at almost a minute and 50 seconds and features glimpses of the next level of gaming animation. More lifelike athletes are on display including close-ups and in action shots of soccer star Kylian Mbappe on the pitch with other talents. Liverpool gets some love for FIFA 21. For the NFL stars include Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson with shots of other teams and players as well.
It’s just a brief look at what’s to come and there wasn’t a full FIFA trailer for the anticipated game just yet. However, it does ramp up the excitement for playing FIFA 21 on the new systems coming later this year. The new animations do appear to take things to a new level. That includes soccer players crashing to the field after a tackle, and NFL stars jumping up into the stands to celebrate with fans. Most likely more is on the way.
There were no other trailers or details dropped for either game during the online presentation. Following the EA Play Live event, EA Sports FIFA posted a screenshot on their social media letting fans there will be more news and footage on the way this summer.
When will FIFA and Madden come out for PS5, Xbox Series X? Upgrade offers
Most gamers already expected the popular sports games to arrive for the next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, there’s no official date for their arrival on those consoles just yet. The consoles themselves come out around a holiday 2020 timeframe.
That said, EA, Sony, and Microsoft have made special upgrade deals available, for Madden 21, and now FIFA 21 as well. We recently reported on the PS5 upgrade for Madden. There’s also an Xbox Series X upgrade.
Following Thursday’s EA Play presentation, EA Sports FIFA tweeted out details for upgrading FIFA from current consoles to next-gen.
The offers require the purchase of the FIFA 21 game ahead of the release of FIFA 22. That game is expected sometime in fall 2021. The FIFA 21 release date is Oct. 9, 2020. However, Madden 21 is coming several months earlier. It’ll be out on August 28, with three-day early access for pre-orders on Aug. 25, 2020.
