During E3 earlier this year, Square Enix and Capcom announced that two of their biggest games would collaborate together by adding in monsters, felynes, mounts, and new minions from Monster Hunter: World into Final Fantasy XIV via a patch. Square Enix has released a new trailer for the collaboration and has also announced that the upcoming crossover event will be launching on Aug 7 – you can check out the new trailer below that shows the warriors of light taking on a Rathalos:
The crossover will be arriving via the patch 4.36 update for Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, alongside the next installment of The Forbidden Land Eureka, titled The Pagos Expedition. Players who exceed level 70 who have completed the “Stormblood” scenario will be able to take on the ruthless Rathalos from Monster Hunter with eight players in the normal version of The Great Hunt Trial or with four players in the Extreme version.
For those that participate in the collaboration event, special rewards will be unlocked for you to try out:
- New Armor Set – Inspired by Rathalos
- New Minions – Poogie and Palico
- New Mount – Rathalos
- New Furnishing – BBQ Spit
In addition to the collaboration event, these features will be added to Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood in the next patch (4.4), which was teased by producer and director Naoki Yoshida:
- New Main Scenario Quests
- New Sidequests – The Four Lords and Even Further Hildibrand Adventures
- New Dungeons – The Burn and Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum (Hard)
- New Trial – Suzaku
- New Raid – Omega: Alphascape
- Updates to jobs, PvP, Battle System, Eureka, Gathering and Crafting, Grand Companies, Housing, The Gold Saucer and more.
