Final Fantasy XIV Celebrates More Than 14 Million Players on Its 5th Anniversary
Square Enix announced today in a press release that Final Fantasy XIV has reached more than 14 million players across the world just in time for the popular Japanese MMORPG’s fifth anniversary. This number includes registered players, both free trial ones and paid users, over the last five years since the game relaunched as A Realm Reborn.
In celebration of Final Fantasy XIV reaching this massive player base milestone alongside its fifth anniversary, there are a ton of festivities going on both in-game and in the real world. Players can log in right now and enjoy The Rising limited time celebration event that is happening right now through September 18, 2018. That isn’t all, though.
Tonight, Friday, August 31 at 8 pm PT, there will be a special 14-hour livestream that will begin. It is being hosted by the Final Fantasy XIV legend himself Producer Naoki Yoshida as he brings on various guests from voice actors to developers and more as they discuss a variety of topics. We will also be getting new info in the livestream regarding the upcoming patch 4.4. Lastly, Capcom’s Ryozo Tsujimoto will be joining to discuss the recent Monster Hunter World collaboration.
The fun still doesn’t stop there, though, as more celebrations are on the way in honor of Final Fantasy XIV’s fifth anniversary and 14 million registered users. North America will kick off the FFXIV Fan Festivals this November in Las Vegas followed by the European Fan Festival in February 2019 in Paris and ending with the Tokyo Fan Festival in March 2019.
