Firebase Z, the second Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, is due to launch tomorrow, on the 4th of February. Arriving as part of the latest Season One Reloaded update, Firebase Z will introduce a new area, with new enemies, new Scorestreaks, and a new Perk.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Firebase Z
Firebase Z will be the first new Zombies map to come to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War since launch, and the first continuation of the Dark Aether storyline. “Following the destruction of the abandoned “Projekt Endstation” research facility,” explains Activision; “a new outbreak site has been uncovered deep in the jungles of Vietnam… and it just so happens to be where Samantha Maxis is being held captive.”
While the map itself will be available to play tomorrow, the traditional Easter Egg hunt quest won’t be available immediately. This quest will be enabled in-game at 9:00 AM PT on the 5th of February. This is reportedly to ensure that all players around the world are able to start at the same time.
Alongside new enemies like Dark Aether Hellhounds, Mimics, and the Mangler, Firebase Z also introduces a new Perk. The Tombstone Soda Perk will be available in both Firebase Z and Die Maschine. In the former, players can find it in the Tombstone machine, while in the latter the Perk can be found in Der Wunderfizz machine. After drinking Tombstone Soda, you’ll gain the ability to become a Dark Aether shadow upon going down. This allows you to keep fighting beyond your normal capabilities. At Tier III, you’ll also drop a Tombstone stash upon death. If you retrieve this stash, you’ll regain all the weapons, gear, and resources which you had before.
When it comes to Scorestreaks, tomorrow’s update will also introduce two new ones; Artillery and Napalm Strike. As they sound, both of these focus on dealing damage over a wide area, with explosives raining down from above. These will be available for both of the Zombies maps.
