The First Apex Legends Mobile Beta Will be Starting Soon

In the years since its release, Apex Legends has eventually come to every major platform. It came to Steam on PC in December of last year, followed by the Nintendo Switch in early March. Now, Respawn has announced that Apex Legends will also be coming to mobile, starting with a series of regional betas.

The First Apex Legends Mobile Betas

Before the end of the month, according to a recent blog post, Respawn plans to launch the first-ever regional beta for Apex Legends Mobile. Initially, this beta will only be available to play for a very small number of players; only a few thousand people in either India or the Philippines will have access. Furthermore, it will only be available for players using Android devices. This first event will be a closed beta, primarily for the purpose of testing in a controlled environment.

Apex Legends Mobile Beta Announced

Of course, more regional betas will follow in the months to come, eventually expanding access across the rest of the world. While initially limited to Android, iOS support will also come at some stage too, according to Respawn. The studio has said that they will be launching a webpage to allow players to pre-register once they’re ready to expand beyond the initial beta. It’s currently unknown when this page might become available.

In a brief FAQ about Apex Legends Mobile, the studio also confirmed several key details about the upcoming game. Perhaps most notably, that the mobile version of Apex Legends will not feature cross-play. While cross-play on PC and consoles has been a big feature of Apex for some time, this version of the game has been designed specifically for mobile. The FAQ also confirms that the game is being developed by a dedicated team at Respawn, rather than a third-party company given the task of making a mobile port. (As is often the case for post-launch platform ports.)
