Last week, Lauren Hissrich, the series showrunner for Netflix’s The Witcher, announced an upcoming behind-the-scenes Witcher podcast. Spanning three 30+ minute episodes, the Netflix podcast is available to listen to on multiple sites, and offers fans a look at how the studio went about creating the hugely popular series. As of today, the first of the three podcasts is available to listen to.
Netflix’s Behind-the-Scenes Witcher Podcast Series
The first episode of the behind-the-scenes Witcher podcast series is now available to listen to on four sites; Pocket Casts, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Stitcher. Entitled “Geralt of Rivia,” the 40-minute episode has a fairly singular focus; how the various writers and other staff worked to adapt the titular character from the original novels. Given this format, it now seems very likely that each episode of the series will focus on a different character; prior to the episode’s release, the series’ summary read; “find out how Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Cirilla the Lion Cub of Cintra were all brought to life.”
As such, fans can probably expect the next episode to focus on Yennefer, with the final episode focusing on Ciri. While an official release schedule is not available, new episodes are likely to be released on a weekly basis. They are the second podcast series produced by Netflix, following the format of a 3-part behind-the-scenes series for Stranger Things. That series released back in mid-2019. Indeed, the episodes of that podcast are listed below those of The Witcher on Netflix’s smarturl page.
The podcast is likely to be of interest to many in the show’s rapidly growing fan community. The release of Netflix’s The Witcher has resulted in a massive spike in interest for The Witcher, regardless of format. Indeed, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which released back in 2017, set a new record for most concurrent players shortly after the release of the Netflix series. Fortunately for fans, it was also indicated today that work on Season 2 of the series is starting very soon.
