Following the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 earlier this week, Treyarch has launched the first 2XP event of the season. Live as of today and due to last for the next four days, this double XP weekend event is the first opportunity for players to get a headstart on their Season 1 Battle Pass.
Black Ops Cold War Season 1 First 2XP Weekend
The latest 2XP weekend event started earlier today (December 18th), and is due to last until the 21st, live across both Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone. During this period, all players will benefit from both double XP and double weapon XP, as per usual. The event is well-timed to give players a chance to speed up their Battle Pass progression, or earn extra XP on the two new weapons added in launch week.

Launch week for Season 1 has brought a wealth of new content to both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. In the former case, the game has gained new Operators, new weapons, a range of new maps, and new modes – including Gunfight. (Launching together with a batch of new 2v2 maps designed exclusively for the popular mode.) Warzone, meanwhile, has finally gotten the content integration which was teased at Black Ops Cold War’s launch. More than 30 weapons from the newest Call of Duty are now available in the battle royale title as part of Rebirth Island; Warzone’s first-ever new map.
With this weekend event to spur players to action, both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone are likely to see their player-counts spike over the next few days. After all, this is the first weekend since the launch of Season 1; the first chance for many gamers to set aside time to try the new content in earnest. Of course, more events like this will no doubt occur over the next few weeks as Treyarch and Activision seek to maintain their momentum into their mid-season releases.
