Although Borderlands 3’s Creative Director Paul Sage has confirmed that there will be no new Vault Hunters coming as DLC, Borderlands fans won’t have to wait long for their first free event. Revealed during a recent episode of the monthly Borderlands Show, Bloody Harvest is an upcoming Halloween themed event which will be free for all players.
The Borderlands 3 Bloody Harvest Free Event
According to Gearbox, Bloody Harvest will be the first of many free content updates for Borderlands 3. There’s no official release date for the event, though it will likely launch close to Halloween. “For the duration of the event,” explains Gearbox; “any Vault Hunters who have departed Pandora for the first time and started exploring the far reaches of space aboard Sanctuary III will start to encounter Haunted enemies around the galaxy. These Haunted enemies are your key to accessing a new event-specific map.”
By defeating Haunted foes, players can earn a new resource called Hecktoplasm, which can be used to create a new reptilian addition to Sanctuary. Additionally, players can eventually access the Bloody Harvest map, full of undead Maliwan enemies and ‘Rakk-O’-lanterns’, among other things. The Bloody Harvest boss will be a familiar face from the main game’s story campaign; ‘Captain Haunt’, the undead spectre of Captain Traunt.
The Bloody Harvest event will also be introducing a variety of new Halloween-themed cosmetics. These include an ECHO Device Skin, a Weapon Trinket, and a new skin for each of the four Vaultt Hunters. There’s also a Global Weapon Skin. Of course, there will also be new Legendary loot available during the event. After Bloody Harvest, the next event for Borderlands 3 is set to be ‘Maliwan Takedown’; an event which was first teased during PAX West. However, the first reveal for that won’t arrive until next month in the second Borderlands Show episode.
