2020 is here, Infinity Ward is back, and as such, the studio has now rolled out their first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update of the year. The update launched alongside a series of announcements, including the launch of a new Trello board, as well as teasers for upcoming content. However, the update itself was actually rather small, only addressing a handful of issues with the game and little else.
What’s New in the First Modern Warfare Update of 2020?
The first Modern Warfare update of 2020 is actually little more than a minor patch, with only four ‘general fixes’. It’s not wholly surprising that this is the case, given that the studio only recently came back after the holidays. Given that new content arrived this week in the form of new game modes, and more is likely on the way later this month, a larger update is also likely to arrive in the near future. For now, however, Infinity Ward have at least rolled out fixes for a few issues.
The first of these fixes is in the form of map tweaks; specifically, to the Karst River Quarry map. Infinity Ward has reportedly removed several “glitch spots,” which players could use vehicles to access. The second fix applies to one of the game’s challenges; the “Mark 25 Enemies Using the Recon Drone,” challenge. This challenge should now track properly, as it wasn’t before. Another issue which has been fixed concerned Trials matches and the Trial Tickets used to activate them. Until now, players could spend more tickets than were actually necessary to unlock Trial matches and would then lose the excess tickets. This will no longer be possible.
The last fix of the first 2020 update applies to the relatively new Infected game mode. A change rather than a fix per se, it will now be the case that if 9 players are Infected, the player won’t have a throwing knife available to use after they use a Tac Insert. All told, relatively specific issues, but hopefully ones which were proving troublesome for players. With more new Season One content on the horizon, fans should probably expect a more comprehensive update sometime in the near future.
