Just a day ago, the NBA 2K21 next-gen gameplay trailer arrived showcasing what’s to come for the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series One. Now, NBA 2K Gameplay Director Mike Wang is providing a series of reports regarding new features specifically for next-gen consoles. They’ll include a lot of updated mechanics and animations to help give 2K ballers even more creativity and control than before.
Mike Wang gives first NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Gameplay details report
In Courtside Report 1, Mike unpacks a variety of new NBA 2K21 next-gen gameplay features for gamers to get excited about. Specifically, a lot of the new gameplay mechanics such as controls for shooting and dribbling will be especially important for developing skills on next-gen. That will include being able to use the sticks for not only aiming your shots, but also getting more or less arc, and even hitting bank shots.
Along with shooting, Mike touches upon how key players have new jump shot signature packages. Just a few players mentioned include the Lakers’ LeBron James (below) and Dallas Mavs’ Luka Doncic. Off-dribble jumpers have been redesigned and updated. Gamers can now take controlled or high momentum shots, with the latter of these being tougher to make.
Additionally, there’s more 3-point line recognition. That will help players to make sure they are behind the line properly to knock down those treys. Add in an overall better look and feel for the 2K21 shot meter to go with it, and the next-gen seems like a game-changer.
Wang also indicates there’s a new level of detail added for ball-handling including new dribbling moves and size-up speed control. It will allow the best players in terms of ball-handling to change up the speed for size-up moves. It’s a first-ever addition to the 2K franchise, thanks to next-gen, giving more unique combos.
Wang’s notes cover quite a bit to be excited about. It’s also just the first report of three covering NBA 2K21 next-gen gameplay. The new version of the game arrives for Xbox Series X on November 10 and PlayStation 5 on November 12.
