First NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Patch Update Details Arrive For PS5 and Xbox Series X

The first NBA 2K21 Next-Gen patch update arrived for PS5 and Xbox Series X with numerous fixes and additions. On Saturday morning, 2K provided the entire notes for what gamers can expect to have updated. That includes updated player likenesses and gameplay, as well as fixes in almost all modes of the game.

NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Patch Update includes player likenesses, gameplay

Just a day ago, VGR reported on the player face scan situation for 2K21. 2K’s Erick Boenisch described how they would be working to bring more updated likenesses into the game. They revealed at least 40 were about ready. According to the official Courtside Report, this first NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Patch Update brings in 20 player likeness updates.

That includes Lakers coach Frank Vogel and players including Nikola Jokic, Paul George, Dejounte Murray, Dwight Howard, and Andrew Wiggins. There are also likeness updates for former players including Jeff Hornacek, Sam Perkins, Stephon Marbury, Jerome Kersey, and Luc Longley.

There were eight gameplay changes in 2K’s report. Fixes included an issue with players picking up the ball for inbound plays, correcting a specific jump ball situation, and fixing a wrong replay that was shown during an official review.

The City, The W, and other areas received updates

Two of the big additions with the next-gen edition are 2K21’s The City and The W modes. Each of these areas of the game also received changes in the NBA 2K21 Next-Gen patch update.

Some of The City updates included speeding up load times after accepting invites to the City from other areas of the game and tracking Win Streaks properly after City games. They also fixed a Jump Shot creator issue where the release speed wasn’t saving correctly when trying to edit a previously created shot.

In The W, one fix addressed a “rare hang” happening as gamers tried to edit their MyPlayer appearance. They also improved things to “smooth out the beginning of the W Online experience” and addressed a disconnect happening after W Online games based on earning a tier upgrade.

That was only some of what NBA 2K21 Next-Gen patch update #1 brought. Other updates in the game arrived for MyNBA, MyTeam, and MyCareer. Check out the full 2K report here to see all of the updates. We also expect more of these to come as they continue to improve the next-gen experience.
