Next week, on the 12th of August, Treyarch will be launching Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5. Along with the major new Double Agent game mode, the studio has now revealed that five new multiplayer maps will also be coming to the game this season, including three returning classics.
Black Ops Cold War Season 5 – New Multiplayer Maps
The first of the five new maps coming in Season 5 should be familiar to anybody who has watched the new opening cinematic. Echelon is a brand-new 6v6 map which takes place at Teufelsberg, a NATO compound near Berlin. This location, which is also known as “Devil’s Mountain,” is set after the events of the cinematic trailer, which left the site a burning wreck. Echelon is the first of three maps which will be available to play at launch.
The second Season 5 launch map is Slums, a returning classic from Black Ops II. This 6v6 map takes place in Panama City and is built around three lanes, with an open square in the centre. The last of the three is the smallest; Showroom, a new 2v2 and 3v3 map for both Face Off and Gunfight. According to Treyarch, this close-quarters map is set in the Stacks emporium in The Pines mall. The map will apparently be the setting for a Gunfight Tournament later in Season 5.
Speaking of later in the season; two further multiplayer maps will be coming to the game after the launch of Season 5. Both of these are maps from past the original Call of Duty: Black Ops. The first is Drive-In, a classic 6v6 map set in a ghost town in the American midwest. Drive-In has been fully remastered to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the release of the Annihilation Map Pack, which first brought the map to Call of Duty: Black Ops. The final map coming in Season 5 is another classic map from the first Black Ops game; Zoo. Another 6v6 map, Zoo was part of Black Ops’ second DLC pack, Escalation.
