Bungie recently deployed a massive 2.0 update for Destiny 2 which essentially preps the game for next week’s launch of the Forsaken expansion. There are a lot of changes contained in the 2.0 update, but below we’ve outlined five aspects of the update in particular that you’ll definitely want to know about.

Heroic Strikes Are Gone
Bungie has retired Heroic strikes in favor of a more streamlined strike playlist that provides appropriate levels of challenge for Guardians of different Power Levels. The ‘Legacy’ playlist is meant for those who are between 200-300 Power and the new Forsaken multi-stage playlist scales up for players of 300, 400, and (after Forsaken’s launch) 500 Power. All Forsaken playlist strikes also have challenge modifiers.
Weapon Infusion Has Been Simplified
Before the 2.0 update, weapon infusion was a bit of a pain since you could only infuse a weapon using another weapon of the exact same type. Now, you can infuse any weapon into another as long as they’re in the same slot (Kinetic, Energy, or Power), but along with the usual Glimmer/Legendary Shard cost you also have to use planetary materials when infusing. The amount of planetary materials, Legendary shards, and Glimmer needed depends on the rarity of the weapons being used for the infusion (infusing a weapon with an Exotic, for example, drastically lowers the Glimmer price and completely negates the Legendary Shard cost).
Forsaken Equipment is Dropping Right Now
Due to an unforeseen bug, new armor and weapons from the Forsaken expansion are currently dropping from certain activities like strikes and the weekly Flashpoint. Even better, players have reported receiving these new items even if they haven’t pre-purchased the Forsaken expansion.
Weapon Slots and Ammo Have Been Tweaked
The association of weapon slots to ammo types is now less binary, as are the different types of weapons that can be associated to each weapon slot. Weapon types like fusion rifles, shotguns, and sniper rifles can now drop as Kinetic or Energy weapons, and they all now use Special ammo instead of Heavy ammo. Power weapons like swords and rocket launchers will continue to use Heavy ammo, and Primary ammo is used for weapon types like auto rifles, SMG’s, and scout rifles.
The Vault Has Gotten a Size Boost
Destiny 2 players who like to collect as much as they can will be happy to hear the Vault has been upgraded so that it now has 500 storage slots total. This change will be particularly handy when Forsaken launches in full and players are able to find weapons and armor with random perk rolls.
