Fortnite: Battle Royale Probably Won’t See A New Map Anytime Soon
If you’re playing Fortnite on the daily (and why wouldn’t you be?) you’re probably wondering when you might be seeing a new map coming down the pipeline. The answer? Probably not for a while, Fortnite design lead Eric Williamson’s recent comments to IGN hold any water. Fans have been wondering for some time now when a new map would finally hit to explore and strategize in, but Williamson says there just isn’t any rush to add another map at the moment.
“There’s no urgency for us to create a new map right now,” Williamson said to IGN. “It’s not a priority right now, whereas continuing to evolve and make the map feel fresh is something we’re very excited and interested about. So stay tuned; we have some interesting ideas.”
Williamson doesn’t rule out changes or augmentations to the existing map, however, which is important to remember. With the upcoming planned maintenance for tomorrow and fans going insane with theories over the mysterious meteors that appeared in the sky over Fortnite’s Tilted Towers, it appears that change could be coming, but to what end?
If there isn’t a new map on the horizon, then what does Epic Games have planned? There’s got to be something big in store to keep the game fresh, as that’s the company’s main objective. This probably won’t come in the form of new weapons, nerfs, or anything of that nature. What Fortnite needs to remain engaging is something far more drastic than that. We’ll have to keep an eye out for what’s to come.
