The addition of the Fortnite Mothership has turned out to be an amazing feature in the game. After the v17.10 patch, players are able to access this giant UFO and get amazing loot from it. However, getting the best loot can sometimes be tricky, which is why players need to do it properly.
Each visit to the Mothership is limited as players have around a minute to improve their loot. Furthermore, there is a time restriction in the looting phase as well. Fortunately, players can extend their visit to the Mothership by picking up time orbs, and this is the key to getting an amazing loot.
How to get Legendary (gold) loot in Fortnite
To get Legendary (gold) loot at the start of every Fortnite match, players have to get abducted by UFOs. This can be done by visiting one of three Abductors that spawn as soon as players get into a match. After a minute or so, each Abductor will emit a green beam that will teleport players to the Mothership.
When players are inside the Mothership, they will have one minute to improve their loot, which is done by picking up Gold Orbs. However, the key to getting Legendary loot is picking up time orbs. Unlike Gold Orbs, they spawn as soon as players are inside the Mothership.
When playing Duos, Trios, or Squads, at least one player should be designated to picking up time orbs. Each orb increases the first stage by five seconds, which means that players can stay up in the Mothership for more than two or three minutes in some cases.
This strategy is very effective mostly because enemies leave the Mothership quickly, letting other players pick up Gold Orbs without any problems. Using this strategy, Legendary loot is guaranteed at the start of every game.
Time orbs are limited
Time orbs are limited in the Mothership, which means that players won’t be able to pick up as many of them as they want. At certain times, there will be no more time orbs remaining on the ship, so players will have to focus on getting Gold Orbs before the timer expires.
However, this should not be a problem for most players. Having one or two players on the time orb duty is more than enough. Furthermore, some squads can decide to have three players chase time orbs and get as much extra time as possible.
